Padluxe & Usage

Padluxe is a disposable sanitary pad designed to provide reliable menstrual protection, comfort and dryness during menstruation. Our product design focuses on absorbency, leakage protection, secure fit and carefully selected materials suitable for prolonged contact with sensitive intimate skin.

Padluxe takes a simple-material approach to menstrual care. We aim to avoid unnecessary fragrances, dyes and other additives that do not contribute to the primary functions of a sanitary pad: absorbing menstrual fluid, helping prevent leakage and keeping the user comfortable.

Pads should generally be changed regularly during the day.

The appropriate interval depends on menstrual flow, activity level and personal comfort. A practical target is approximately every 4–6 hours, with more frequent changes during heavy flow.

Change the pad sooner if it becomes saturated, uncomfortable, displaced or soiled.

Why is changing pads regularly important?

Regular changing helps:

  • keep the skin drier;
  • reduce prolonged exposure to menstrual fluid and moisture;
  • reduce odor;
  • minimize friction and discomfort; and
  • maintain good menstrual hygiene.

No.

A pad does not have to be completely saturated before it should be changed.

Even with a lighter flow, prolonged exposure to moisture, sweat and menstrual fluid can make the skin uncomfortable.

Choose a pad length and absorbency appropriate for your menstrual flow and expected sleeping period.

The pad should be positioned securely before sleeping and changed when necessary.

For people with particularly heavy menstrual bleeding, additional protection or medical advice may sometimes be appropriate.

Wash and dry your hands before opening the pad.

Remove the protective backing, position the absorbent side upward in the center of your underwear and press the adhesive surface firmly against the fabric.

Fold the wings around the underside of the underwear to help secure the pad.

Change your pad when:

  • it feels wet;
  • menstrual fluid is approaching the edges;
  • you notice leakage;
  • the pad moves out of position;
  • it becomes uncomfortable; or
  • several hours have passed since the last change.

People with heavier menstrual flow may need to change pads significantly more frequently.

Chemicals & Additives

Padluxe is designed without unnecessary added dyes or colorants in its skin-contact materials.

Dyes do not improve menstrual-fluid absorption. Certain colorants may also irritate or sensitize susceptible skin.

We therefore favor a simpler material profile wherever possible.

The primary purpose of a sanitary pad is menstrual protection.

Colorants generally provide an aesthetic function rather than improving:

  • absorbency;
  • dryness;
  • leakage protection;
  • fit; or
  • menstrual hygiene.

Removing unnecessary colorants can reduce the number of substances that remain in prolonged contact with sensitive skin.

Padluxe is designed without unnecessary added preservatives.

Preservatives are important in many water-containing cosmetic products because they prevent microbial growth. A dry, single-use sanitary pad has very different formulation requirements.

Certain preservatives can also cause contact sensitivity in susceptible individuals. We therefore avoid unnecessary preservative systems where they are not technically required.

Padluxe seeks to avoid unnecessary chlorine-based bleaching processes in materials where suitable alternatives are available.

The purpose of this approach is to maintain a controlled material profile and reduce unnecessary processing chemicals.

It is important to note that modern chlorine-bleached materials are not automatically unsafe. The Padluxe approach is a precautionary product-design choice rather than a claim that all chlorine-bleached sanitary pads are harmful.

Optical brighteners, sometimes called fluorescent whitening agents, are substances used to make materials appear visually whiter or brighter.

They are primarily cosmetic. They do not make a sanitary pad more absorbent or improve menstrual protection.

A migratory whitening agent is capable of transferring from the material in which it was originally incorporated.

Because whitening agents are not required for menstrual absorption or leakage protection, Padluxe aims to avoid migratory fluorescent whitening agents in materials that may come into contact with the body.

Padluxe avoids plasticizers of concern in its materials.

However, the term "plasticizer-free" can cover a very large number of substances with different safety profiles. For this reason, specific testing for substances such as regulated phthalates provides a more meaningful measure of material safety than assuming that every substance categorized as a plasticizer presents the same risk.

Phthalates are a family of chemicals, some of which have historically been used to make plastics more flexible.

Certain phthalates—including DEHP, DBP, BBP and DIBP—have been restricted in several jurisdictions because of reproductive or endocrine-related concerns.

Padluxe supports minimizing unnecessary exposure to restricted phthalates in menstrual-care materials.

A sanitary pad can remain in close contact with the vulva for several hours. The area is also naturally warm and may be exposed to menstrual fluid, moisture and friction.

We therefore believe that ingredients that provide no meaningful absorbency, leakage-control or comfort benefit should be minimized where practical.

This does not mean that every chemical or synthetic material is harmful. Our approach is simply to use materials for a clear functional purpose.

They can in some users.

Fragrances contain substances that may cause irritant or allergic contact dermatitis in susceptible individuals.

Symptoms may include:

  • itching;
  • redness;
  • burning;
  • stinging;
  • soreness; or
  • rash.

Not every person who uses a scented pad will experience irritation, but fragrance is not necessary for menstrual protection.

It is more accurate to say that scented pads may contribute to irritation in susceptible individuals rather than stating that they directly cause vaginal infections.

Yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis and other vaginal infections have specific biological causes.

However, irritation of the vulvar skin may cause itching, burning or discomfort that can resemble symptoms associated with infection.

The vagina maintains its own biological environment and normally does not require perfumes, deodorants or fragranced hygiene products.

Professional guidance generally recommends avoiding unnecessary perfumes and deodorizing products around the vulva and vagina, particularly when irritation is present.

Padluxe therefore uses a fragrance-free approach.

Normal menstruation can have a mild natural odor.

A sanitary pad should manage menstrual fluid rather than attempt to perfume the genital area.

A persistent, unusually strong or unpleasant vaginal odor—particularly when associated with unusual discharge, pain, itching or burning—may require medical evaluation rather than simply being covered with fragrance.

Yes. Padluxe is designed to be fragrance-free.

Fragrance is not necessary for a sanitary pad to absorb menstrual fluid or prevent leakage. Fragrances can also irritate sensitive skin in some people.

For this reason, we believe menstrual products do not need perfume to perform effectively.

The vulva contains sensitive skin that can be more susceptible to irritation than many other areas of the body.

Perfumes and fragrances are recognized potential skin irritants and allergens. Avoiding fragrance reduces unnecessary exposure, particularly during several hours of continuous pad use.

International technical specifications developed by UNICEF, UNFPA and UNHCR also specify unscented disposable sanitary pads.

Padluxe is designed without added alcohol.

Certain forms of alcohol, particularly at sufficient concentrations, can have a drying or irritating effect on sensitive skin. Because alcohol is unnecessary for the basic function of a sanitary pad, Padluxe does not rely on it as a product feature.

Padluxe is designed to be free from intentionally added formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde is a recognized skin sensitizer and may occur in some manufacturing processes or treated materials. Reducing avoidable exposure is particularly relevant for products intended for prolonged skin contact.

Absorbency and Leakage Protection

Safety and Menstrual Health

Absorbency describes a pad's ability to take in and retain menstrual fluid.

An effective pad should rapidly transfer fluid away from the surface and hold it within the absorbent core while helping prevent fluid from reaching the underwear.

Not necessarily.

Absorbency depends on the complete design of the product, including:

  • the top sheet;
  • fluid-transfer layer;
  • absorbent core;
  • distribution of absorbent materials;
  • pad dimensions; and
  • overall construction.

Thickness alone does not determine performance.

Wings help anchor the pad around the underwear.

They can improve stability, help reduce side movement and provide additional protection around the edges of the underwear.

No sanitary pad can guarantee zero leakage under every circumstance.

Leakage can be influenced by menstrual-flow volume, pad placement, movement, sleeping position, how frequently the pad is changed and whether the selected pad is appropriate for the user's flow.

Selecting the appropriate pad and changing it regularly improves protection.

There is no good basis for claiming that normal use of properly manufactured sanitary pads causes infertility.

Padluxe does not use fear-based claims about menstrual products.

Our approach is to minimize unnecessary ingredients while focusing on product quality, material suitability, comfort and menstrual protection.

It would be misleading to state that using a scented sanitary pad normally causes cancer.

Padluxe's fragrance-free approach is primarily about reducing unnecessary exposure to potential irritants and allergens—not making unsupported cancer claims.

Sanitary pads are not themselves a recognized direct cause of most yeast infections.

However, moisture, heat, friction and irritation around the vulva can make the area uncomfortable. Regular pad changes and appropriate genital hygiene can help maintain comfort.

A sanitary pad is worn externally rather than inside the vagina.

Claims that a particular pad automatically changes vaginal pH should therefore be treated cautiously.

Padluxe focuses on avoiding unnecessary fragrances and irritants rather than making unsupported claims about controlling vaginal pH.

No.

The vagina and menstrual fluid can have a normal natural odor.

Perfuming the area is neither necessary nor a substitute for appropriate hygiene or medical assessment when an unusual odor occurs.

They are generally unnecessary.

Perfumed intimate products can irritate sensitive tissue in some people. Normal external hygiene with water and appropriate menstrual-product changes is usually sufficient.

Hygiene & Disposal

You do not need to wash the genital area every time you change a pad.

Clean hands are more important when handling a fresh sanitary product.

During bathing, gently cleaning the external vulvar area with water is generally sufficient. Avoid putting soaps, fragrances, antiseptics or other cleansing products inside the vagina.

Routine vaginal douching is not recommended.

The vagina naturally maintains its internal environment. Douching can disturb this balance.

Padluxe's fragrance-free philosophy is based on minimizing unnecessary fragrance exposure around sensitive intimate skin.

If you are prone to irritation, avoiding fragranced intimate washes, deodorants, wipes and sprays may be helpful.

Generally, no.

The vagina is self-cleaning. Normal bathing and gentle external cleaning of the vulva are usually sufficient.

Products should not be inserted into the vagina solely for cleaning purposes unless recommended by a healthcare professional.

Store unused pads in a clean, dry place away from excessive heat, moisture, dust and direct contamination.

Keep individual pads wrapped until they are ready for use.

If the pad has been exposed to dirt, moisture or contamination because its packaging has been significantly damaged, it is safer to use another properly sealed pad.

Remove the used pad, roll or fold it inward and wrap it securely using its wrapper or appropriate disposal material.

Place it in a suitable waste bin.

No.

Disposable sanitary pads should not be flushed because they are designed to absorb fluid and do not break down like toilet paper. Flushing them may block toilets and sewer systems.

Disposal methods depend on local waste-management systems.

Consumers should follow local waste-disposal guidance. Uncontrolled household burning of plastic-containing waste is generally not advisable because combustion can release harmful pollutants.
